Trio Arkel
Sunday, March 9, 2014
7 pm
Church of the Holy Trinity, Eaton Centre

Trio Arkel, Canada’s foremost classical string trio, presents the second concert of their inaugural series at Church of the Holy Trinity- beside the Eaton Centre. This exciting program features music by Finnish composers, two of whom are among the most celebrated composers living and writing today.

In the first half of the program, we play two string trios by Jean Sibelius and the Cloud Trio by Kaija Saariaho, which she wrote while gazing at the French Alps. For the second half of the program we welcome star artists from the National Arts Centre in Ottawa to play Magnus Lindberg's Quintet for Clarinet and Strings, a virtuosic piece for all especially the clarinet; Sean Rice, second clarinet of the NACO has been described by The New York Times as a “technically precise, exuberant protagonist,” for his performance of this piece.

Join Trio Arkel on Sunday March 9th, 7P.M. at Church of the Holy Trinity, Eaton Centre for coffee, pulla, (sweet Finnish bread) and stimulating music!
